Garmin connect appears to update if I track a long activity

Last weekend I did a 6hour walk, my Strava beacon always sends when I start an activity in my fenix and it all went fine this time too until a few hours in my beacon safety contact messaged me to say it had gone off.  It was only when I stopped the activity on my watch and opened the app on my phone it appeared connect had done an update and I was completely logged out which would have caused the beacon to stop.  It asked me to agree to used agreement, connect my device etc etc fair enough, bad timing for my activity but it would always affect someone so I just went with it. Then, this weekend exactly the same thing again.  I was doing a long activity in Scottish wilderness (an arranged large scale activity so I wasn’t going to disappear but still) and beacon stopped working.  Got to the target and stopped my watch which was behaving fine, no sync because the app is behaving like it’s done an update, I’m not just signed out.  Anyone else had this at all? I can’t find any update notes, no one else seems to be reporting it, any help appreciated though!  I do a lot of solo activities in Scotland in the wilderness and while I do have an in reach as well, I like multi layers of tracking in case something happens.
