Brand New Vivoactive 5 not charging

Brand new watch and cable out of the box maybe 3 hours.

Zero charging happening. Does not even appear to acknowledge the cable is inserted - according to internet it should display the battery symbol with a lightning bolt when charging. It does not.

Holding static at 63% which it presumably was when I took it out of the box for setup.

Unable to try alternative power sources due to C Port connection which is only available from my phone as Garmin failed to provide a plug or adapter for use with multiple power sources.

Have turned both connectors around in case upside down and cleaned my phone port to no avail.

Any help greatly appreciated... 

  • Can your phone charge other devices? It is supported from iPhone 15. 

    Order an adapter USB-A to USB-C or order a charger with a USB-C port. USB-C is the new standard and chargers should no longer be supplied. The idea is that everyone already got so many chargers. No need for yet another one.

  • I have never owned anything that could or should be charged from the phone so ... yeah I never thought that it might be something it doesn't support.

    For 200 quid I feel like a plug should be included as the Standard C is supposed to be on the device end and this is clearly cheating around the legislation, but I digress!
