Calorie counting issue with Forerunner and Edge

I've noticed that the calories shown in the Garmin Connect app only reflect the calories recorded by my Forerunner 255, which is set as my primary device. If, during the day, I also do a cycling session recorded with my Edge 540 (same account and profile), those calories are not included in the total calorie count. As a result, the app shows a total of, for example, 2000 kcal instead of the 3000-3500 kcal that should be displayed.

Yes, unfortunately that's how it is designed to work since the Edge generation 540 / 1040. It was not the case at the previous generations, however Garmin decided to implement this "improvement". I recommend suggesting a change to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin

As a workaround, in the time being, you can either double record the activity with your watch (while having the HRM strap paired with it too), and at the end discarding one of them, or removing the watch from your wrist while riding (or disabling the wrist HR sensor, or attaching the watch over a thick sleeve).
