Data from Edge 840 not loading into FR 965

The data from my Edge 840 is not being blended with the general metrics from my FR 965. Therefore, calories, training status and other metrics are not being updated. Tried to switch on and off the physiotrueup, but still nothing happens. Any tips?

  • Do you sync the Edge before each ride so it can download the data uploaded by FR965? If you don't do that it will use old data for the calculations. That will make the values to be different on the devices.

If you do the sync before each ride it will eventually be the same data on both devices. It will take a few weeks.

  • Hi - thanks for your message. Yes, I synced before and after, still doesnt add up the load, calories, etc after 10h riding my bike this week, the strange thing is that I used to own an Edge 530 and never had this issue, but swapped to a 840 and now this is happening.

  • Yes, Garmin changed the way devices using the so-called Unified Training Status work (older devices use the Physio TrueUp only). Metrics like for example Calories now always come from the Primary Wearable Device (your watch). As long as you wear the watch, its data overrides the data from Edge. There are only two workarounds: either remove the watch from your wrist when riding, or connect all sensors to the watch and record the activity on it (you can record it on the Edge too, but you better discard it at the end to avoid the duplicate).

I'd also suggest contacting the Support and complaining about it. It is a frequent topic here on the forum, but only huge increase of cases the Support must handle can make them reconsider the current method.

  • Oh that is super helpful, thanks for sharing this info. I will contact support and see what they can do, cheers!
