I logged a ticket today and got following reply;

Updated IOS to 18.2 and now I cannot connect the Edge 1040 at all!
After numerous attempts I managed to connect and sync .... still in Chinese!

The same issue applies to me for so many weeks, without any solution. Tried suggestion as mentioned before through the change of language in app, not resolved though. Kindly ask from Garmin representative to add me to the notification/email when issue resolved.
I just updated the unit to v26.10. On android no change. I found a future proof solution. Learn chinese. Sooner or later we all will need it...
I just asked for an update on my ticket and got
“The engineers have identified the root cause and are working on releasing the fix. I don't know when that is.”

Mine too… I reset my 1040 three times and tried reinstalling Connect twice. No luck but I’m glad to see it looks like it not just me.
The App was updated 2 days ago and still not fixed so think we’ll have to wait for at least 1 more update if what I’ve been told is true. Looks like updates are 1 a month roughly so we’ve got some waiting yet…. I’m going to start grumbling soon !
Please let us know where the Language settings are inside IOS/Settings/Apps/Connect
you need at least 2 languages in iOS main settings to see the Language settings within the app language settings
OK got that...added new IOS language in settings/language and region, then back to Settings/Apps/Connect/Language was now there, changed to new second language, opened Connect App, connected to Edge 1040, all app and indeed device menu was now second language...closed Connect app, back to IOS settings./Apps/Connect/Language back to primary English...opened Connect App, it was back to English but when connected to device, Chinese menu was back...
3 weeks not enough to fix that crazy bug?
