Garmin Edge 1040 showing up in Chinese on Garmin Connect

Gave it my best shot!!! Worked when I turned the language to Dutch and the 1040 was at least legible. However; after returning to English and re-syncing….. back to Chinese on 1040.  I tried it twice same result.  I put a call into Garmin support one month ago and was adived they were aware of the issue and engineers were working on it.  I followed up 1 week ago and received the same answer. Despite all that…. thanks to Garmin users and forum for your help and suggestions. I will advise when I hear from Garmin. Cheers

I think your case is the same as mine where we just have one language (English) on our iPhones. Under the general iOS settings, find Language & Region settings, then add a second language (any language, but don’t set it as default). Then in the iOS settings for the Connect app this new option will appear to change it from English to the other language. Do that, then flip it back. It resets whatever was broken in the Garmin app to make it pick Mandarin. You can then remove that second language from your phone.

I have followed your step by step (several times) to no avail. I have also tried variations of your instructions. Connect will change to every language selected through the process except for English which will revert back to Chinese.  I appreciate your efforts in helping me out, it’s on Garmin support to figure this out ; unless a new path is identified. 

I have the same issue. Switching system language to German changes it from Chinese to German, but when I change it back to English, the edge 1040 settings go straight back to chinese. It must be an app bug where device settings are in Chinese when system language is in English. 

Doesn't work in android. Connect is not an app able to use different languages other than system default. 

Same issue on my Android device, when I select English the page is shown in Chinese, when I set my phone to Dutch the page is settings page on Garmin Connect for the Edge 1040 Solar is shown in Dutch and also is my Fenix. When I revert back to English the page for the Fenix is in English but for the Edge 1040 the page is showing in Chinees... Any solution ?

Same issue. ios 18.2, Garmin 1040. changed to chinese top menu for English

The "workaround" stopped working for me and mine as regressed to showing the in-app settings in Mandarin again.
