Sync ErgData Concept2 to Garmin Connect - Problem with heart rate in Garmin Connect

I do indoor rowing on a Concept 2 with the PM5 monitor.
My setup is as follows:
I have a Forerunner 245 watch. I wear this during training, but don't record any activity with it.
I connect a Garmin chest strap to the PM5 on the rowing machine.
I record the activity with the ErgData app, which I also connect to the PM5.
The Concept2 Log then synchronizes the data to Garmin.
The activity is then also displayed as an activity in Garmin, but not in the heart rate and intensity minutes.
What is the reason for this?
Is there a way to ensure that the data is displayed correctly?

The gap in the heart rate display is because I wasn't wearing the watch at the time. The training was before that. The heart rate displayed by Garmin at that time does not match the rate in ErgData. Strange!

  • Did you enable PhysioTrue up and all the over synch features (they got renamed a few times over the years and now I don’t know how they are called anymore).
intensity minutes are calculated on watches wich support them. The training needs to be synched to the watch for IM.
I don’t believe that external HR Data will be displayed in the HR graph when the watch was worn.
I just checked mine. I commuted 75minutes this morning on bike with an average HR of 125, my graph isn’t showing this correctly in my opinion. I recorded the ride on an Edge device while wearing the watch on my wrist.

If you use ErgData only to get the Data into Garmin Connect, you could record the whole data on the watch and skip the extra app.
The PM5 can be added as an indoor trainer to watches and the watch will receive speed, cadence, distance from the PM5 and integrate it with its own sensor data (in your case the HRM worn on your chest).
This way all the data you asked for will be available, also recovery time and training load (if available on your watch).

  • PhysioTrueUp won't help in this case, because that feature works for two (or more) different Garmin devices, not for 3rd parties. The HR data on the all-day graph, as well as other derived metrics (Intensity Minutes, Body Battery, Calories, etc) come from the internal sensor, unless you record the activity with it, and have the external sensor connected to the watch too.

So besides what BeneGi suggested - recording the activity exclusively with the watch, you can also do double recording, and use both the watch and the Concept2 app to log the activity. You can then delete one of them, or discard the activity on the watch instead of saving (the HR data form the external HRM, and the related metrics will stay preserved), or you can disconnect Concept2, in order to prevent the duplicate, and keep its data only on their side.
