maps are not shown in news feed anymore since updating GarminConnect to v5.6

maps of my walk/bike/golf activities are not shown in news feed anymore since updating GarminConnect to v5.6

data comes from Approach S62

  • Try changing the data source from Google Maps to Apple Maps. In an a activity, tap on the map, then on the layers icon, and on the Map Settings windows that opens, tap Google Maps and change to Apple Maps.

  • sounds right, unfortunately there is NO map to be seen where I could click on. Dont know even where I could enable/disable tthe maps at all??

see next entry as pic. no map…

  • pic does not upload, sorry Worried

  • hah!

another entry mentions iOS version 17.4.1 with white squares instead of maps.

I am running 17.6.1, so that is where to look at…

  • Good morning ,

my issue was solved, with help of the Garmin helpline. I was requested to switch off the watch completely, then restart. This solved the problem.

it seems that the GPS is read by different streams in the watch OS, one that tracks the golf game, and one that tracks the actual position to draw on maps on the iPhone.

it was the latter stream that was corrupt, and did not receive or store the appropriate position data.

hope this helps other users !

    happy golf !

  • With support from the helpless of Garmin this issue is closed.

I was asked to completely switch of my watch and restart after this. This action solved the problem.

It seems that the GPS is read by (at least) 2 different streams in the watch OS, first is to read the position on the golf course and calculate distances to the pin. This one was working perfectly.

The second stream reads the GPS data and stores it for later mapping on the iPhone, it was this stream that received no feedback from the GPS system.

anyway, big thanks to the Garmin help team,

    happy golf !

  • Hmmm, sending before rereading!

I meant of course pmi with the help of the Garmin team - they are far from being helpless!

    apologies.
