Testing old HRM-1

I recently found a very old HRM-1 that I used to use with a old Garmin running watch. I would like to see if it is working.

I changed the battery, but I cannot get it to connect with either Garmin Connect on my phone or computer. (I now have a vivoactive 4s). I can't find much on the internet, are there any suggestions? I can't even test that it is powered or not, though it has a new battery in it so it should be.

It does not connect to a phone (unless you have an ANT enabled phone, and an app able to use it). HRM-1 has no Bluetooth, only ANT. Connect it to your watch or to a bike computer.
