Suggested workout different between devices

I use an Epix gen 2 to track run workouts and as a daily wear watch. I also use an Edge 1030+ as a cycling computer. Both are connected to Garmin Connect and I automatically sync workouts to Connect.

I’m curious why the suggested workout I get through the watch and the workout suggestion I get from the Edge 1030+ are different?
I get a workout suggestion to do a 30 min easy ride from my watch and a rest day suggested by the edge 1030.

Why is that

  • Why is that

The workout does not come from the cloud, or from the app. Each device generates the DSW randomly, using metrics stored on the device.

  • Thank you for the response Trux
It would be nice if the workouts were generated from Connect and pushed to all devices since Connect is where all the available data is saved including sleep, nutrition and intensity.

  • I am just telling how it is. As users, we cannot change it, but I recommend suggesting it to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin, though I doubt they will change it, since it would go against their policies, having all processing done locally on the devices, and having as little processing as possible on the cloud, or on the app.

Anyway it does not really matter that the workouts differ, because they are generated randomly anyway, and both of them should have similar effect (assuming the devices are synced and having the same metrics).

Will I Get Different Suggestions if I Use Multiple Compatible Garmin Devices?

Yes, the DSWs are determined directly on the device and the information on each device can vary slightly, causing different suggestions. The most likely case to see this is if you have two different models of Garmin devices.
