Sharing workouts - Garmin's seeming refusal to share workouts

Why has Garmin not introduced functionality to share workouts with other users? This has been requested for years so there must be a reason why Garmin has refused to enable this. We can share routes with our training partners. Why can we not share workouts that we have created?

    Yes, thanks. Seems to be specific to Edge.

    Surprised that this isn't available through Connect. Must be same coding that enables sharing of courses. Once workout has been shared from one Connect account to another, the functionality already exists to transfer a workout to the device. Can't be rocket science for Garmin. Suunto has managed it.

    It should work in the same way with watches compatible with the feature too. I cannot test it though, since I do not own a model supporting it.

    One of possible reasons to avoid implementing it through Garmin Connect is that it would require cloud storage and server processing time. Given the tens of millions of users, it would considerably increase the data center costs. That's just my guess, though - we can only speculate what the true reasons are, and nobody will tell you here for sure.

    I did, but I stopped reading at the headline: 

    ‘ Edge Cycling Computers’

    - I guess the behavior is identical on the Fenix. I don’t have an extra device, so I can’t test it.

    I would like to download a custom strength workout that I create on my Garmin App to share with a friend. However, I can't find the download button.

    There is not a built-in way to do this from the Garmin Connect app. However, you can use the chrome extension chromewebstore.google.com/.../kdpolhnlnkengkmfncjdbfdehglepmff, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
