Loss Edge 540 Data after Garmin Connect Firmware Update and re-signing.

Garmin connect requested to sign in and update version. Upon sign in garmin connect restart from scratch and had to register garmin devices. All setting started from scratch. Even all my ride data Edge 540 gone. Health and stats all gone. I restarted my phone and edge 540 but still tye garmin connect unable to retrieve previous data.

  • Looks like you created a new account (Sign Up) instead of logging into the original one (Sign In). Sign out, and then sign back into the original account with the old credentials.

  • No. Same credentials. When I opened the app I was already signed out and it requested for sign in which I did after I updated the firmware version. Signed in with same credentials and it started asking for pairing, etc, started questions as if new user. I gave up now. How do I transfer ride info from edge to garmin connect?

    If old rides that were already synced once, are not in Garmin Connect, then you are definitely not in your original account.

    I recommend to search all your known email addresses, as well as your nickname, on the page Garmin Connect » Connections » Search. and see whether there are multiple hits.

    Otherwise, if you really want to continue to use the duplicate account anyway (which is not a good choice), and want to include all activities from the device, then you can find the instructions here: How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect? | Garmin Customer Support

    I had the same issue. I have on the watch 5 recordings and on the account the other half. it happened after the software update  27.0 last night. any help? thanks

    If you're sure you haven't created another Garmin account, did you try the manual upload as suggested by ? - How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect? | Garmin Customer Support

    I will try. I hope also the steps and the groups that i had and now does not appear any of them… it is weird because it does not appear my profile picture and i was on the level 3 and now on the level 2. I will be updating you with the results. Thanks

    Unlike activities, steps cannot be reimported into a new account. You have to sign out from the new account, and then sign in back into the original account with the old credentials.

    If you do not have your activities, your steps, and your avatar, then it is practically certainly not the same account. Double check your email archive and find out the account confirmation from the time you signed in the first time, and make sure you use the very same email address, and not an alias (such as for example using [email protected] instead of [email protected])

    If you do not sort it out, I recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com. Use the Phone or Chat options for an instant response. Email exchanges usually take a few days.

    Well, first of all, yesterday i accessed to my account through my phone where my mail account and password are saved on my phone so i did not change any of the mails and password. Of course I have, just 50%. Profile pic and steps no, but yes some of the runs that i did, not last week but yea before… on my watch even updated it still appears the steps and the runs are there… i have a group where now there, there are 2 accounts of mine, same email same everything. The problem is garmin app and not the watch i believe… 

    so it was telling me that it is a different account but it is the same. I checked my mail and YES, i have previous access with this mail. Any help?
