Index Scale S2, IOS Connect app. not recording body composition.

My Garmin Index scale was working fine until yesterday, at that time it started measuring weight (only) but not body composition. Today, same problem but in addition it causes the Connect app to hang when the Weight function on the Connect app is opened.
Restarting the app or scale does not fix the issue. The issue is not related to the last problem caused by a scale software up-date that prevented the scale connecting, that was fixed some months back it has worked fine since. I'm assuming this is a probably caused by a new up-date? Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix?

  • Oddly enough this happened to my scale. I did not have the issue with it causing the app to hang (I'm using android). But i was missing all the metrics and was only recording my weight. It only lasted a day, then started working again. I'm not sure what fixed it or if it was just a fluke, but what I did was:

    • Pull the batteries from the scale
    • Remove the scale from the Garmin Connect app - More > Garmin Devices > Index S2 > Remove Device
    • Remove (unpair/forget) the scale from Bluetooth settings on the phone.
    • Add fresh batteries, then press the reset button on the underside of the scale.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to add the scale to the Garmin Connect app
    • Probably not needed, but I also changed my user identity on the scale.

Also, make sure "Advanced Body Metrics" is toggled on.

If none of this helps, I recommend reaching out to Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com. Use the Phone or Chat options. Email exchanges take a lot of time.

  • That’s exactly the steps I used when a previous up-date bug caused the sync issue. I was lazy this time & just pulled the batteries on the scale & restarted the phone so i’ll run the whole process again & see if that works. Thanks for the help.

  • Just reset the whole caboose as suggested and there was also a software update available so installed that as well. Batteries were quite new so I didn’t change those.

All good now, thanks for the help.
