Do any Garmin watches work fully with an Wi-Fi only iPad?

Hello there!

Backstory: Looking into getting a watch for someone who's in middle of nowhere in the US that has satellite internet and a WiFi only iPad(latest gen) as their only computing device.

While I have my own Garmin watch(Venu 3S) that I love I was wondering if lets say this model or any newer models work fully on an iPad that is Wi-Fi only. Excluding the obvious GPS problems on watches that don't have GPS built in, can I use Garmin Connect fully on a iPad in this case? Or does it have to have a cell phone service for any part of it? Are there any features that are limited outside of phone related?

Any one who knows or has done this please let me know your experience.

Thank you in advance!

  • You do not need WiFi on the watch, you only need Bluetooth connection between the watch and the phone or tablet. And you do need Internet connection on the tablet, if you want to sync the watch. Otherwise, for off-line syncing, you can also use the Garmin Explore app, but it is much more limited than Garmin Connect.
