New Venu 3s watch, nothing works

I got my first watch yesterday, the Venu 3s. I decided to get a more expensive one, to treat myself and have solid product.

Since turing the device on I struggle with every little thing I try to do on the connect app. That's insane.

Updating the software was buggy and took a lot of time and attempts.

I'm unable to add a credit card- also glitching, no problem on the card end, it's compatible. I tried 2 different ones.

Creating a plan is also bad, and now I'm also unable to edit the plan. It just sends an error message.

Every little thing I try to do on the watch,I need to check on reddit how someone bypassed the software glitch. I'm highly dissapointed, I can't belieive the biggest brand on the industry has such a bad app with a quite expensive device. I tried all the basic troubleshooting - uninistalling, restarting etc.

  • Best way to update the software on the watch is to use Garmin Express on a computer: https://www.garmin.com/software/express

Doing it with Garmin Connect will take a lot of time and it will not check for updates that often. It is designed to do it in the background. Garmin Express will do it when you use it.

I prefer using Garmin Connect Web to setup training plan and edit my data. Mobile apps got to many potential issues (app, phone, updates, connections etc.): https://connect.garmin.com/modern/

The web also got more functions than the app so it is better in most ways.

  • Garmin has a lot of software issues and many never seem to get resolved you need only look through some of the threads on these forums to see that. The Connect app is a disaster, any given day you may or may not get your device to sync so it is hit or miss if you actually get to see your dats in the app or just on your watch. I agree that for a huge company this is unacceptable. The coaching plans - you can't even reschedule a missed run, that is something that should be easy to do.

If you are in the return window I would send it back. I sold mine because I missed it. There are a lot of other watch brands out there to choose from.

  • Since the software update on Monday my Venu 3s has only been recording half of my intensity minutes. Immediately after the update it didn’t record any of a 50min workout! Up until Monday everything was fine so I think it must be the software update.

  • I think it must be the software update.

Or (more likely) your heart rate. Or the 7-days avg Resting HR. Without showing us your IM settings, and the all-day HR graph, we cannot tell you exactly.

  • Oh a fellow medical colleague. How exciting!

No, just a long-time user who actually knows how IMs work. If you want, you can read more about the feature of Intensity Minutes in the document How Does the Intensity Minutes Feature Work? | Garmin Customer Support
