Why does my Garmin Forerunner 265s still receive/download updates when in airplane mode (even though not connected to wi-fi, nor phone)?

Why does my Forerunner 265s still receive/download updates while in airplane mode? Even though my Forerunner 265s is in airplane mode (& NOT connected to wi-fi nor phone/tablet), it still downloads/installs Garmin software updates…

I am disappointed in Garmin - I expected much more...

I made the decision to purchase the Forerunner 265s (& pay more) because of Garmin’s reputation. I owned multiple Garmin devices in the past & didn’t expect that I wasn’t getting another ‘Apple-like’ device where security is lacking & user data is compromised.

Before I post this security hole/breach online (outside of this forum), I want to check to see if Garmin will put out a security update for this issue…

If the watch is neither connected to wifi nor bluetooth it can't download updates. It can still install already downloaded updates. If you keep the watch on auto update that is exactly what it will do…

If the watch is neither connected to wifi nor bluetooth it can't download updates. It can still install already downloaded updates. If you keep the watch on auto update that is exactly what it will do. It will download the update and then install it at a later time.
