Audio prompts

Just switched to a forerunner 945 and not receiving audio prompts. I have it turned on as before. What am I missing??

  • I spent an hour with Garmin support and went through all the usual "check this, check that..." with no solution. They submitted a ticket with "engineering" (that was on 6/1/24) and have not heard anything at this point. I'm assuming it's an app update issue as that's when the problem start for us as well. Both my wife and I lost prompts, I switched from FR 235 to 945, and she still has the 235. If anyone finds a solution, PLEASE let us know!!

  • I have spent more than an hour with Garmin Support. I am sorry, I am just not able to get through to them, They suggested, returning my watch to the seller, or changing my phone, but are either not able to or not willing to consider there is something wrong with Garmin Connect. I even gave the link to this post - from where it is clear that it is affecting multiple devices, and the only common denominator is all of us have updated our Garmin Connect app - but no cigar. 

    Now I have sent them some diagnostic reports from the phone and sent some screenshots to esplain as best as I can what the issue is. Just have to wait and hope for the best. In the meantime, I am out of pocket after having bought a replacement watch for no reason at all.

  • I have yet to call support as it seems like a waste of time and I don’t have an hour to go through the issue with them. I will try sometime this week to hopefully help get this resolved. I have had my Garmin three years now with no issue until now. I get notifications on my watch, just the audio prompts while running or rowing are now not working after the latest upgrade.

  • I did exactly the same with support and their "engineering dept" is looking into it and will get back to me....

  • Well, that's somewhat encouraging as they are at least acknowledging there's a problem. On the flip side, I'm a bit disappointed I have not heard a thing from them after my conversation and a ticket being put in to their engineers...

  • Guys, could some of you please check again today?

    I went for a run today morning for 45 minutes, my audio prompts are set for every five minutes, and nothing at all happened. So it wasn't working today morning. However, just now, I was idly amusing myself by pressing the headphones icon to test the volume level, knowing nothing would happen - and blow me down if it suddenly didn't work.

    I tried out a small dummy activity for 6 minutes, and it did call out the prompt.

    I have no idea why it is working now - No update has been pushed out as far as I can make out.

    I will report back again after tomorrow's full fledged activity.

  • Nothing for me. Did a 5k earlier today and no audio prompts.

  • Mine is still not working.

    Garmin support emailed me that they expected a fix to be avialable in latter half of June.

  • I can confirm that the audio prompts worked like a charm during my 5k rrun today.

    I can think of a possible explanation. I had signed up for the beta program when they were making changes to Garmin Connect earlier this year. Perhaps because of that I have been pushed an update they are working on. So atleast it holds out concrete hope for everyone here that a fix is most definitely on the way.

    However because of garmin erroneous diagnosis that my watch was defective, now I have been out of pocket on a watch I didn't need to buy, and I have a superfluous watch to spare.
