From the watch or the phone? You need headphones connected to the watch to get audio prompts. On the phone you don't need headphones connected.
From the phone. This had been working fine with my 235. I have checked all settings in the app and on the phone and it should be giving audio prompts.
Restart of phone usually helps to fix that.
Nope. I have restarted phone, watch, deleted app and redownloaded… nothing.
Same issue with my Instict Solar. After the latest update of Connect no audio prompts. All settings in the phone, app, watch are correct but no audio prompts. Uninstalled/reinstalled app, restarted phone, have the latest IOS, nothing.
I am experiencing the same problems with my forerunner 45. Spent about 45 minutes chatting with Garmin tech-support and they could not resolve the issue. This all happened after the update. They escalated my problem to their engineering department so now it’s just a waiting game until I hear from them.

I had a Garmin FR 645 Music, and the audio prompts stopped working. I contacted Garmin Support, and they convinced me (against my better judgement, I thought it was a Garmin Connect issue) that the device is faulty, and I have to buy a new one.
So I boughte me a used FR 935 on facebook, I set it up today - and exactly the same issue.
All the settings are absoilutely correct, this functionality has worked without a flaw for years with these settings, but now nothing.
Where there should be an option to set the audio prompt volume - I just see a headphones icon. I could swear it was not there before.
Garmin connect shows it was updated about 9 days ago - roughly when I started noticing the issue

Yes. My experience exactly. Started 10 days ago right after updating to the "new home screen" on the iPhone Garmin app.
Worked fine for years before that!
