How do you Turn off Auto nap detection

Is there any way to turn off auto nap detection on Venu 3? If not, it really needs to be added to the system. It regularly adds naps that never happened while working at my desk, watching the morning news, or reading for a while. Even if I delete the naps in Connect on my phone, they remain on the watch and alter the body battery and sleep coach. We need the ability to turn it off and record naps manually.

    No

Make sure that the correct values for heart rate and other user data are correct in connect.

Wear the watch tight, but not too tight. The HR sensor should not be on the bone of the wrist.
If you work at a desk, also make sure that the HR sensor has good skin contact.

  • This isn’t a user issue. I’ve had a Garmin Vivo Active HR for 6+ years until the water seal broke this winter and I’ve had an Apple Watch 6 for over three years. I’m pretty sure I know how to wear it so the HR sensor works properly. The auto nap feature on the Venu 3 is terribly inaccurate with too many false positives. The false naps seem to be taken into account in body battery, recovery time, and sleep coach cos it has an impact. Deleting the nap in Connect doesn’t delete the nap from the watch even after a synch and deleting i2 or 3 times a day shouldn’t be necessary anyway. The ability to turn off auto nap would be a huge improvement to the watch. I can’t wait to see if it’s in the next update.

  • It is a huge issue and you are correct even when you delete the false nap the data isn't erased it just changes to 'rest' and still impacts your other metrics - bad data in=bad data out. I get false naps everyday. They are detected when my heart rate is well above what my resting heart rate is when I actually sleep. The sleep functions on Garmin devices are questionable at best. I have had a ticket with Garmin about the false naps for what seems like months with no resolution, there was an update a while ago to try to stop false naps when people were actually up and moving around, it still persists. I have a Forerunner 265.

We currently use forerunner 965 and tactix 7 pro in our household. We have not had any false nap recordings yet.
Is your data given in Connect such as RHR, HRmax, etc. correct?

  • Yes my data is correct, it is not a user issue. I also know how to wear a HR sensor.

  • It works amazingly well for me and my family.

  • Well that is great for you and your family but of zero use to those that it does not. Thank you for your input. You must be the luckiest Garmin user ever because everything works perfectly for you, never having any issues with anything, all of your posts are "working fine for me". I can only hope one day I can be as lucky as you.

How many of my posts have you read here in the last few years to be able to judge this?
