“How can I add a manual activity I just completed?” The new homepage is much worse.
Press the Connect Icon until a context menu appears. There you find the option to add a manual activity.

However, the steps provided by @e7andy allow you to use the shortcut method for adding an activity manually once your Home page is setup correctly.
