I’m using garmin navigate on my forerunner 955 but the map is impossible to read on a trail run. Can you follow the map on the phone app at the same time?

I’m using Garmin navigate on my forerunner 955 for a route I have created. When I run the route starting on my watch can you follow the map on your phone throughout the run?

Sure, just export the Course as GPX in Garmin Connect Web, and load it into your favorite phone navigation app.

Thanks I’ve done that but then whilst I can see it in my favourites there’s no option to start the route ?!?!

As I wrote you have to export the course as GPX, import it into a navigation app, and start it from there. You cannot start navigation in Garmin Connect. You have to use Apple Maps, Google Maps, or any other navigation app of your choice.

You have to start it on the watch to make it log to Garmin Connect. The phone app is just for the navigation. It will not be used for logging so no need to start anything unless the app requires that.
