The new app is deja vu for former Fitbit users - it is not a good thing

The old app was as perfect as the user wanted.  A quick glace was all that was needed most of the time.  Most of the information was visible without scrolling.  Min and max data was displayed without having to open a box. Now, you have to scroll to find anything and click open many boxes to see the data that used to be visible with little effort.

This is deja vu for former Fitbit users.  Fitbit was purchased by Google.  Google set out to destroy Fitbit by forcing on the Fitbit users a new app that was hard to navigate and making it very difficult to find the data that the users wanted to see.  Most of the Fitbit users hated the change.  The result is the Fitbit users are migrating to either Garmin or Apple or some smaller players.  Being one of those former Fitbit owners I am alarmed that Garmin is making the same mistake.

Don't be Fitbit/Google and give us the option to go back to the simpler and more useful app.

  • Also a former Fitbit user. I just switched in February and it was the Fitbit app redesign that pushed me off the fence to go with Garmin.

I went to my local Scheels to pick out my new Garmin watch and they don't even sell Fitbit anymore because nobody was buying their products.

And now here I am in the exact same position. I do love my Garmin watch more than I liked my Fitbit (I should since it cost substantially more plus I also dropped a chunk of change on the Garmin scale) but I'm just as displeased with this new Connect app as I was with the "new" Fitbit app. It feels like such a bait & switch.

I loved the Connect app just the way it was and started every morning by scrolling down through my metrics (more than 8 of them) and then used it consistently throughout the day. Such a bummer.
