Garmin Connect Mobile Updated Home Page

It’s terrible.

  • Seriously! This is awful!

  • Now I’ve looked at it more in depth , it’s far worse than I thought. I don’t have time to scroll through to see data that was simply there! FFS Face palm was it designed for people with a child’s watch

  • In fact I’m so pissed with it, think it’s time to looked on LinkedIn find the U.K. head honcho & dm to complain

  • Unfortunately there is no way to go back to the original format for Apple users. Android users have found a way to reinstall the previous version.

  • You have 2 ways to go back on iOS devices in reality.

Way 1 which I guess most people don't do is if you happen to back up the phone to a computer you can restore from that backup with the old app.

Way 2 which I don't recommend for most people is jailbreak the iPhone and side load the older version of Gamin Connect.

Both can have negative consequences if you don't know what you are doing.

  • Have you tried either of these? And if so have they worked? Because I suspect that even if you did that the Connect app would be the new one as Apple does not keep older versions of apps as far as I am aware.

  • I was able to restore a backup to a older iPhone I have with the older connect app on it from a computer backup I had.  I have not restored to my daily phone as I have to much stuff on it.

I'm guessing I could dig and find the package.  Most stuff you can get if you know where to look.

This still does not mean Garmin will not app lock it to a version number on the backend.    At this time it would make people even angrier so I'm not sure if they would or not.

  • Thank you - I know I have my auto update turned on in all my backups that's how I ended up with this disaster, so I don't think it would work for me but I do have an old phone and will give it a try, if it works it might help some others as well.

  • When I restored the first time as a test on my old phone I made the mistake of forgetting auto update was on and it updated quickly.  The second time I restored I made sure that I had no Wifi so it would not auto update.

I have a couple friends I bike with that bought some very cheap Android phones and side loaded the V4 app that way.

Each person has to weigh what is best for them and what type of knowledge they have for doing the unconventional installs. Good luck,
