Historical data no longer displaying in garmin connect

I've switched from android to iOS and installed the garmin connect app on my new phone. Now my historical data is no longer displaying, on clicking through on heart rate for example, I get the notification that 'no heart rate data available'.

I've found multiple pages on the garmin website with possible causes and solutions but none of them have worked. So far I've tried:

  • Restart garmin connect
  • Log out & back in
  • Reinstall garmin connect & resync device (forerunner 55)
  • Restart both devices & resync

I only have one Garmin account, the same one I used on android.

Has anyone encountered this issue as well? Have you been able to solve it? If so, how?

It really does not look like. Try accessing your Garmin account on the web, at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/steps, and see whether the data is there. You can also try to sign out on your old Android phone, and sign back in with the credentials you use on the iPhone. If the data disappears too, then it means you do have two different accounts.

  • I'm a new user (Vivosmart 4), but I'm having the same issue on my iPhone; I also have only one account. Nothing shows up on Garmin Connect - no steps, no heart rate, nothing. Have also tried restarting, logging out & in, etc, to no avail.

  • I am also looking for solution for this bug. The same story. It is so frustrating :/

On the web it doesn't display any data either. Since my Android phone is broken, I can't log out and back in there.

It would really surprise me if I have another Garmin account:

I only have one other email address that I use (rarely) and that a Garmin account could be linked to. I've tried resetting the password for that email address. I get the notification that I'll receive an email to reset the password if the email address is known to Garmin. Since I'm not getting any email on that address, I'm assuming that Garmin doesn't know that address and therefore I don't have an account associated to that address either.

To further verify, I tried setting up a new account, assuming that it would not let me set up a new account if the email address was already in use. I was able to create a new account with that email.

Associating my watch with the newly created account seems to have solved the issue. Pity that my former training data will not be available in data account but at least I can keep track of future activities now... Not really the solution I was looking for but hey, it's better than nothing.

  • If you managed to create a new account with an email address, then it means there was no account registered under that address yet. You probably used an alias, or a different address, initially. Check out your old emails and see what address Garmin used to send you diverse notifications. You can also search for your email address(es) at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/connections/search

Exactly, the first account that I used on Android and initially on iOS was on email address 1. I have a second one that I checked for associated accounts but none were associated so I created a new account on that address as a final check.

Then I tried linking my Garmin device to the second account to see if that changed anything in the recorded data and I can now see historical data again. Not sure why that didn't work with account 1. Anyways, it works like this so I'll just stick to account 2 then.

Thanks for your feedback trux, it's appreciated.
