When reviewing an activity; ever since 4/1 the HR zones bpm under charts is off.

When reviewing an activity; ever since 4/1 the HR zones bpm under charts is off. I reviewed my HR zones settings under user profile and those are correct  All my activities prior 4/1 are fine; just from 4/1 on the bpm for each zone is incorrectly defined

  • You have to fix your HR zones. Z5 starting at 42 bpm is wrong. Go to the settings, verify the Max HR, LTHR, and reset the HR zones.

  • As I mentioned - I reviewed my HR zones (under users settings) already.  They are correct!

I even reset them - issue remains.

I know the bpm is wrong - that is my complaint.  But the issue only occured on 4/1 to present.

  • ***UPDATE***

    I just:

    • downloaded the affected workouts (.tcx)
    • deleted the affected workouts from Connect
    • imported the downloaded affected workouts (.tcx)

Which resolved the issue of the zones bpm being incorrect.

Note: If you use .fit files in lieu of .tcx files you will import the affected zones again

  • If the HR Zones were wrong on the watch at the moment of recording the concerned activity, the wrong zones are indeed recorded in the FIT file, and will be reused if you import the orignal file again. You cannot change HR Zones in an activity retroactively. Well, aside of stripping the HRZ data in the way you did - by exporting as TCX and reimporting, but you lose some other metric with it too.

So if the activity had wrong HR Zones, and the zones are all right now, then either they were fixed in the mean time, or it is also possible that you did not look at the right HR Zone table - there are up to four different HRZ tables - general, running, cycling, and swimming HRZ. For Treadmill activities the Running HRZ will be used, if defined. If not, then the general HRZ table.

To test whether the HRZ are really all right now, record and save a dummy treadmill activity of a few seconds, and check the HRZ in it again. If they are still wrong, then you were not checking the right table. If they are all right, then the table was already fixed.

  • Look, the issue seemingly affected my runs on and after 4/1.

Everything prior recorded fine.  Nothing was fixed just a reimport.

Before I even did anything the zone data on the connect web portal reflected an average zone of 3.7 while the connect app showed the whole run in zone 5.

Something glitched - but it was not me

  • I did not tell it was you. I am just giving you a tip how you can verify, whether the issue was already fixed or not. And if not, where to look for a possible problem.

  • Where did I say that anywhere? Right from jump in this thread there seems to be a miscommunication.

What I said "Something glitched - but it was not me"

    Issue seems resolved.

  • Issue seems resolved.

You will not know till the next activity syncs to Garmin Connect. That's why I am advising you to test it right now with a brief simulated activity - you will see instantly whether you get the corrupted HRZ table, or the fixed one.
