Why? For some anaerobic effect you need workouts including very intensive bursts of effort of short duration (couple of tens of seconds), such as interval training, short max-out sprints, short hill-climbs, etc.
Thanks for replying.
I’ve done workouts just like that. So today I did a 20 mins running workout, with 3 x 5min fast pace intervals where my HR was about 85 - 90% max heart rate for each interval. The result was 0.8 for the Anarobic reading which I think is lower than it should be.
3 x 5min fast pace intervals
5 minutes is way to long for generating sufficient anaerobic effect. The body is not able to stay in anaerobic mode for longer then few tens of seconds. You'll get much higher anaerobic effect with all-out 50 - 100 meter sprints, or max effort intervals of up to about a minute, but not more.
Check this page for how to get the wanted training effect: What Is the Training Effect Feature on My Garmin Device?
There is a good table in that page with example workouts and expected training effect.
1 minute intervals seems to give the highest anaerobic training effect.
