There is no relation between the version of the firmware of the watch, and the software on the phone (the Garmin Connect app). It means if you have a beta version of the watch firmware, it does not mean you have also the beta version of the app. You have to receive an invitation to join the beta program for Garmin Connect, in order to be able activating the beta features of the app/

As I wrote, you have to wait till and whether you get an invitation from Garmin. It is a random process and you cannot influence it.
