Managing multiple sleep periods

I work an unusual night shift, and so frequently have a nap of 2-3 hours, then sleep ~6 hours in the morning. The App has a hard time with this, and often decides it’s a single (14-15 hour!) sleep period - despite the fact that for a big part of that I’m actually flying a heavy jet! Critiques of my landing aside, I’m definitely awake. How do I edit sleep to only show the 2 (obvious on the pattern) sleep periods?

  • As for the long detected sleep - you can edit the start and the end, but you cannot have more than one main sleep data set per day. To prevent the false detection, I recommend editing the sleep schedule accordingly in advance (at least approximately)

Otherwise, naps detection is supported by a number of newer models:

  • Bummer. This isn’t a big enough issue to ditch my already expensive device for an even more costly one. I hope Garmin will give us an update at some point to help with that.

  • Thanks for this thread as I had a similar question (but I'm not flying jets!).  I set my sleep schedule for a 10 hour window (2000 to 0600).  I will often be up for an hour to 90 minutes in that range and the app will declare that my sleep period is ended even though I'll go back for another 4 to 5 hours.  There must be a value in the algorithm that determines "fully awake" since it can handle the brief pee stops.  Does anyone know that value?  10 minutes?  30 minutes?  I had a related question regarding Stress measurement which I'll put in another comment.  Many thanks

  • Forgot to mention, Vivosmart 4 paired with iOS 15.8.2.   The question about the Stress value is that it shows asleep time as high stress.   Is this normal?   Thanks again.
