Can you see how many steps you got for your walk/run activity on the connect app after the activity is complete

Every time I finish a walk or run activity it will tell me everything but how many steps I got in the activity. Not sure if I just don’t know where to look but this should be a pretty standard thing

  • You can with a Connect IQ data field app. I've been using tx Activity STEPS. It will do exactly what you want.

Configure the data field on your watch - Run Settings > Data Screens > Data Fields > Connect IQ Fields > txActivitySteps (or whatever app you installed).

Complete the activity, then open the activity in the GC app. You'll see steps taken during the activity under the Stats tab, in the Connect IQ section.

  • Yeah, it is odd that the value isn't a default value, but it is easy to add by a Connect IQ data field.

Another way if you don't want to install a data field is to just multiple the average cadence with the number of minutes of the activity. I used a data field before but after a factory reset of my watch I multiply those values instead.

  • Another good data field for this is Steps to FIT

  • I've used Steps to FIT for years with the walking activity. I recently added it as a data field in the hiking activity on my watch, and I can see steps while I am hiking, but they do not show up in Garmin Connect. Do you think the hiking activity was not coded to write Connect IQ data to the FIT file?

  • and I can see steps while I am hiking, but they do not show up in Garmin Connect.

I'm using tx Activity STEPS connect IQ data field. During hikes I can see the total steps. In Garmin Connect it's listed on the Stats tab at the very bottom under the CONNECT IQ section.

I would imagine that Steps to FIT would be the same.
