Intensity minutes

I’m not getting any intensity minutes in the morning but am in the evening with almost the exact same activity?? I’ve checked the wake up time and it’s not this or my HR monitor

  • I’m not getting any intensity minutes in the morning but am in the evening with almost the exact same activity?

Same HR during the entire activity, in both cases, too? Please share links to both activities, or post screenshots of the HR graphs from both activities. And the all-day HR graph please too.

  • Here are both activities,

strangely the heart rate graph doesn’t reflect the activity graph

  • Well, the all-day graph explains it clearly - the HR was much lower during the morning ride, hence it is not too surprising you did not get any IMs for it.

strangely the heart rate graph doesn’t reflect the activity graph

The all-day HR comes from the optical sensor of the watch (when worn). If you used a HRM strap connected to Edge, during the cycling, then the HR data of the activity comes from the strap, not from the watch, and may be significantly different.

When you wear the watch (Primary Wearable Device), IMs are being calculated by the watch, using the optical sensor (unless the HRM strap is connected to it too, and an activity is recorded on it). It means it uses the data that you see on the all-day graph.

If you have an Edge computer supporting the Intensity Minutes feature (only the last generation E1040, E940, Explorer 2), then the bike computer processes the IMs when you stop wearing the watch (or disable the HR sensor on it).

  • thank you for the response.

I used a Garmin 1030 Plus but did not realise that the data from this would not be included in the IMs.

seems I would be better off just linking the HRM to my Fenix and using that for both journey to gain the IMs
