Weather app on vivoactive 4s says “mobile app connection required” although all other apps/widgets are updating normally.

When I scroll through my watch apps for my vivoactive 4s, the weather app says “mobile app connection required” although all other apps/widgets are updating normally.  I have updated the connect app, I even installed “Rainy” since the regular weather is not working.  Only since the most recent iOS update.  Help?

  • Other widgets do not need any web access, only weather and tides widgets load data from Internet. That's why other widgets do not complain. Verify that the watch is connected to the phone, that Garmin Connect is running on the phone, and that the phone has access to the Internet. Also verify whether you granted all permission to the Connect app, and whether some battery optimizing options do not block the connection.

    Looks like I needed to perform a complete power cycle.  Not sure if it was the power cycle for the phone or Garmin that fixed it, since I did both, but…
