SWIMTAG activity is not loading into my Garmin (I have created a link account from my SWIMTAG account)

Do you have a Garmin watch, or just a SWIMTAG band and the app? If you have a Garmin watch, it can be synced to Garmin Connect and SWIMTAG. I don't believe it works the other way around. I don't own a SWIMTAG, so I could be wrong.

• According to SWIMTAG it can be done by exporting a .fit file from SWIMTAG and importing into Garmin connect.

I have created the .fit file but Garmin can’t upload - error: oops the file is not a course. 

Anyway around this (I’m assuming most .fit files are for cycling)

Looks like you're attempting to upload as a course, which will produce that error message. For an activity, use the "Import Data" link. Top/right corner of Garmin Connect Web.

 Hi - thanks for the info. Finally managed to import the file as an activity.

It seems Garmin doesn’t acknowledge the activity towards the monthly challenges (same as manually adding an activity) as both swim time and swim distance still at zero. I’m really struggling to know how these badges can be achieved.

It is written on Garmin's website: What Are Garmin Connect Badge Achievements? | Garmin Customer Support

Basically all you need to do, is recording your activities with a Garmin device.

Unfortunately I don’t have a swim activity on my watch

You can record it as Cardio, or whatever else you have on your watch, and then change it to Swimming in Garmin Connect.

... or, if your watch supports the Connect IQ technology, you can install a swimming app from the Connect IQ store. Or a general app allowing to record any type of activity, such as the "Any Activity" app.
