there is no way to turn off wheel chair mode

In the recent update to version 4.74, there is a bug in the custom stride length. It defaults to custom stroke length related to wheelchair mode, but there is no way to turn off wheel chair mode.

In settings/user settings/custom stride length, I get a message to turn off wheel chair mode. I have a Vivosmart 5 synced to Garmin Connect. Wheel chair mode is not available on Vivosmart 5. I have no way to turn off wheelchair mode.

  • When is this getting fixed?   I want out of wheelchair mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why is there no updatie on this wheelchair bug?!  It has been over 3 weeks. Very frustrating bug as it messes up your training. I just ordered an Apple Watch to try because of the lack of response.

  • I also have the same problem with my venu sq watch. how can I solve this?? my steps are not accurate and I bought the watch mainly for this purpose. help!

  • And me with my instinct 2 solar

  • And me with my instinct 2 solar

Instinct 2 does not support the feature of the "wheelchair mode", hence that setting is irrelevant for that watch.

  • Are you saying its in the app but not in the actual watch??

  • I have spoken to Garmin uk they are now aware of the issue sent them this thread

  • Are you saying its in the app but not in the actual watch??

Yes, regardless what the app shows, your watch cannot use any wheelchair mode, since it does not have any such feature. And that's true for practically all other Garmin watches, except of a handful of the very latest models like the Venu 3 (I am not even sure whether there is currently any other model than Venu 3, supporting the feature at all)

  • But it still blocks you from setting your stride length.  It only allows wheelchair mode, does not matter the watch, and you cannot set stride length.  Therefore your steps do not equate to accurate distance.  This is what I noticed on my my Instinct Solar.  I also wonder if it even uses your height to estimate a stride length now, if it is locked in wheelchair mode?

Why is there no response to getting this fixed, focus seems to be on proving why all the users are wrong and we don't know what we are talking about in reference to accuracy and dependability of our training stats.  Simple approach at this point in time seems to be just to disable the wheelchair mode API, it was not properly tested and obviously has issues.
