there is no way to turn off wheel chair mode

In the recent update to version 4.74, there is a bug in the custom stride length. It defaults to custom stroke length related to wheelchair mode, but there is no way to turn off wheel chair mode.

In settings/user settings/custom stride length, I get a message to turn off wheel chair mode. I have a Vivosmart 5 synced to Garmin Connect. Wheel chair mode is not available on Vivosmart 5. I have no way to turn off wheelchair mode.

  • I’ve the same problem please fix it!

  • When I sent them a message I was initially told the 245 doesn’t have a wheelchair option.  You’d think the person replying would look into it before saying my watch doesn’t even have that setting.  I was asked to send pics and serial number.  I asked today if there was an update.  The reply was no, thank you for your patience.  My patience is wearing thin.

  • 22 days since this issue was first reported?

Obviously there is now a “Known Issue” - can’t we fix this?
Step counters are the basis of so many people’s fitness regimen and fitness tracking - aka the reason we all purchased a Garmin in the first place.
    Lets get on this please.
    Kind regards.

  • I did find a way to get out of the wheelchair conundrum. If I go to the Garmin Connect App and click on my device, it takes me to settings. If I choose Health and Wellness, it takes me to Custom Stride length. If I click on walking, it asks me to measure the distance and number of steps. I put 100 meters and 145 steps to get the 70.4 the FitBit gives me automatically. Garmin calculates only 70 cm stride length. Will see if the head to head comparisons works now as my Epix Pro Gen 2 has been underestimating steps.

  • Doesn’t work for Venu 3s.

  • Doesn’t work here. I can’t customize my step length because I’m in wheelchair mode.

  • Same here with Vivismart HR+
    Any suggestions?

  • This issue has been fixed for me. Custom stride length is accessible and wheel chair mode is off appears to have been a remote fix as I did nothing… might be worth checking your devices again…

  • Still not working Venu 3s

  • It’s been 3 weeks and counting. After 1 month this will be retourned to the dealer for warranty fix.
To not have a steps counter on a fit watch just isnt acceptable.
