I am an emergency contact for someone. How do I see where they are?

I agreed to be an emergency contact in Garmin Connect for someone.  he told me I should be able to see where he is at any time. I can’t figure out how to do that.

That would be true if you were also on the list of recipients for the Live Track feature, and the person started a Live Track sharing at the beginning of the activity (or used the auto-start). Otherwise you only get the coordinates by an SMS when an accident is detected.

  • If you are also on the Live Track list, you get an e-mail when the activity starts, and can follow the link to watch the activity live, or view it within, I think it's a day or two after the activity is complete. You can have him test the emergency alert feature by sending an alarm manually from the watch. It's probably worth testing to make sure he has all the settings correct.

Also don't panic if you do get an emergency alert. My watch once sent one last week when I stopped to watch a light display and clapped my hands when it was over!

  • Ha!  Good info, thanks much.
