Golf Range Distances Often Wrong by 20-30 yards

I love the ease of using my Fenix 6S Pro as a golf range finder on the course, but the distances are frequently off by 10-30 yards. This happens on every course I play but maybe 2-4 holes which makes me play the wrong club. I’ve compared distances using different binocular style range finders. I’ve also compared distances using golf apps on my iphone. The apps and rangefinders match, but my Fenix is the only one off by so much. My husband has a different Garmin Golf Watch and even his distances don’t match mine?!

Why does Garmin sell a golf watch feature in a $600+ watch that is off so much on 2-4 holes per round?! How can this be fixed?

Typically when users report the golf distance off by the amount mentioned above (10-30 yards), the units setting for golf distance on the watch is set to meters.

Typically when users report the golf distance off by the amount mentioned above (10-30 yards), the units setting for golf distance on the watch is set to meters.

Steps to check the Golf Distance setting outlined below:

Access the Settings Menu on your watch.
Select Activities & Apps.
Select Golf.
Select Golf Settings.
Select Golf Distance.
Select Yards or Meters.

If you find that the golf distance setting is not showing set to meters, then other factors may be causing the concern.

Other possible causes of distance inaccuracy:

Watch does not have a clear view of the sky for a strong satellite lock.
CourseView map version or watch software needs to be updated. To update your software and maps, use the Garmin Express program.
Pin placement was manually moved away from the center of green.
PlaysLike Distance feature is enabled.
