Account “maked for deletion in 3 days” despite having logged in etc

I’m still being sent emails saying my account will be deleted. I reacted to the first and second ones, logged in online via link and did stuff on the app on my phone too. Yet today got one saying account inactive and being deleted in 3 days. Appears genuine. What do I need to do to stop my account being deleted when email link and logging in doesn’t seem to work?

My data goes through Garmin to Strava so I tend to look at Strava, and I see that’s not enough usage of the Garmin app to be kept automatically, which is frustrating. Wonder if that can changed as valid type of usage? I can’t be the only one…

Thanks

  • If the emails are not phishing attempts (never use any links sent you in such emails, rather go directly to the concerned website!!!), you may have two different accounts, and one of them is unused. Go to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/connections/search, enter diverse your email addresses into the search box, and see how many different accounts you have. Make sure to have used also the email address, the notifications were sent to.

I still rather believe the emails were phishing, and that you possibly entered your credentials into their phishing website (mimicking Garmin Connect), since I never received any such email, despite having a rarely used test account, besides my main account, too. When you clicked the link in the email, did the address in the browser's address line start with https://connect.garmin.com, and was the padlock icon near it closed?

If you find you entered the credentials on a phishing page, make sure to go to the official Garmin account page at Garmin International | Account | Profile, change your password there, and report the case to Garmin at Report a Security Issue | Garmin
