Pending connections error

I just downloaded the app to encourage a friend but when I found the person and asked to connect, I got a message saying:

”

You have reached the maximum of 5

pending connection requests permitted

for your account. Add a device or try

canceling a pending request in order to

invite more users to connect.”

I hadn’t made any other connection requests.

Ask the friend to make a request to you. Perhaps it works in the opposite direction.

From the support materials available online, it is apparent that the limit of 5 connections without a Garmin device was changed to 0. Almost certainly because it was being abused by spammers. And it looks like Garmin forgot to update the error message.

Originally, the support article "Add and Remove Connections in Garmin Connect" indeed mentioned the limit of 5, while the recent version tells the following:

NOTE: You must have a Garmin device paired to your Garmin Connect account to be able to add any Connections.

The original text was:

NOTE: There is typically a limit of 1000 Connect contacts, but if there are no devices associated with your account the limit will be only 5 Connect contacts.

Ask the friend to make a request to you. Perhaps it works in the opposite direction.
