Step count not counting the full amount?

My wife’s venu 2 seems to have a problem with the step count! She’s had attempted to completed 10,000 steps a day for a full year!
she current see’s on her watch face and the “my day section of garmin” that she is at a set amount. But as she reaches the 10,000 in both of them areas it won’t 100% turn over and say she has steps to do still!
she has to click on her steps! And then it will show between 500- 1000 less than she has??

The value you see in the My Day view is the value on the watch. If you click the steps in My Day you will see the synced value on Garmin servers. Those values are not always the same, but will be after it has synced. During an activity the steps will not sync until you ended the activity.
