FIT file re-coding issue

Hi,

I ran into an annoying problem, so I thought I ask in case I am missing something:

I am using plotaroute.com to create roztes for my hikes. I create the route with turn warnings and dowoad it in FIT file format

- If I manually copy the FIT file to watch courses folder, it works PERFECTLY, so it navigates perfectly and show the turning signs.

BUT

- I would love to do this without manual copy, so I tried to use Garmin Connect app as: long press on downloaded FIT file, share, garmin connect

- Problem is that Garmin Connect re-code FIT file, and completely kills all turn warnings, as it use its own route calculation, which of course cant work. Even if i enable turning sign in route settings

Anybody else experiience the same?

Many thanks in advance!

  • Yes, that's exactly how it works. If you want to avoid GC messing up the imported course, you have to do it in the way you did - uploading directly to the watch. There are also some Connect IQ apps that may help with uploading routes to the device without using the cable, and also services like Komoot that can perhaps help too.

  • BIG thanks! Honestly this is terrible.
