Swim 2 maps

My Garmin swim2 has stopped showing maps for open water swims. Distance and other data seems ok. Happened after I omitted to charge it and the battery died.

Restart your watch. Check for updates with Garmin Express (it will assure to get a recent ephemeris data), and then, when going to swim, do not start before you get the GPS lock.

Already done the restart and update check. Not sure about checking GPS but will confirm after today’s event. Can’t think why my lad two swims would be different to the last two years of swimming, but thanks for your comments and I’ll check later.

Well things went well today. Patience seems to have been the answer: wait until the watch says ready! Made sure I did that today and the map part appeared. Still surprised how it could tell the distance and my splits on last two occasions without GPS apparently working.

Thanks for your comments Trux. Made me slow down and think a bit.

Using your stroke cadence and the avg. stroke distance from your previous activities.
