Fenix 5X not registering last shots on hole 9 or 18.

While shots are accurately recorded on the earlier holes, the final approach shots to the last hole of a course most of the time do not show on the map. I tried waiting for some time before ending the game or walking to the clubhouse before doing so but nothing seems to be fully effective. Any solution?

  • I would suggest the following to help get consistent shots tracked the final hole of the course you mentioned:

    • When you tee off on hole 9 or 18, make sure that the front, mid, and back distance are displaying on the correct hole.
    • Look for the shot banner at the top of the screen that appears when a shot is detected. When you take your approach shot on those holes, make sure you are seeing the shot distance banner refresh, with the distance from each shot increasing accordingly. (fenix 6 models and up).
    • If you do not have club prompt enabled (fenix 6 models and up), you could try enabling that feature so it is more obvious on the screen when shots during the round are being detected by the watch.
  • Thx for the prompt feedback Garmin-Cody.

I will check on my next round, but I had the issue on more than one course, making me think that inaccurate distances would not be the bug.

Are club prompt and the shot banner you refer to features that run on the Fenix 5X?  I am not sure if they are, but please let me know how I can activate these tools.

  • My apologies, that is correct. The fenix 5X does not have the club prompt feature, but does have the AutoShot feature to record shots.

Ensure the hole has transitioned, and no prompts for scoring on a previous hole are still on the screen. If the front, middle, back distances are displaying prior to taking your approach shot on holes 9 & 18, make sure to take a full swing shot, as there needs to be enough impact from the club face to the ball for the watch to detect and pick up the shot.

Then enter the score as you are leaving the hole, and especially with hole 18, make sure to end the round prior to heading towards the clubhouse, or to the car. This will ensure the shot is not still recording, and not data becomes missing.
