Blood donation and its effects on the body

Dear Garmin,

no questions from me but I just wish you guys could somehow incorporate into the app the aspect when a person is a blood donor, so his/her donation (that they would enter into the calendar) would be considered by the app and by the device during activities that follow after the donation.

Blood donation is always a huge setback for the body which should be taken into account and be somehow reflected in the metrics that are being tracked: all sport activities (especially running and cycling) as well as body battery, breathing, VO2 Max etc. but also during a current training program for running - so I wouldn’t get scolded by poor statistics or coach’s feedback afterwards ;-)

I have no idea if such thing already exists or can be even evented, but you’ve gone so far and are the true leader in your field that I have no doubts Garmin cannot come with this feature one day! :)

Cheers,

Veronika

  • I second this. I would love to be able to enter when I’ve give whole blood or platelets and then track my recovery. (Instead of getting negative messages about my training status Joy) this would be a valuable upgrade to my garmin. Thanks!

  • I agree.
I can add a note...but wouild like a more integrated ability.

Exactly as you tell, blood donation is a setback for the body, and most of the current Garmin watches do record the extra strain with the help of HRV, so the extra strain is being tracked and does have influence on the Body Battery, Stress, and Training Readiness, so I do not think any other tracking is really needed. However, if you do want to track the donations, then you can either use the suggested calendar notes, or even better creating a custom activity profile, name it "Blood Donation" and record an activity using this profile each time you donate.
