No workout credit for training plans.

My Instinct solar does not update training plans on Garmin connect. I select a coach, sign up for a plan and perform the training requested and never get credit in order to move on to the next days training. Any ideas before I move to a different platform?

  • How are you starting your workouts? Do you make sure you start the correct workout?

I don't know how it works on the Instinct, but on other watches it is best to start the workout from the coach widget or the training calendar to make sure you don't start the wrong workout.

  • Thanks for the reply.

so via the app I selected the coach, the training plan, configured the plan with the selected start date. The first workout was a benchmark. And labeled this way on the calendar and on the phone under my workouts. I started the workout from my watch. The watch completes the workout and shows the event on the dashboard of my phone app and desktop computer. When looking at my watch when connected to my computer I can find the .fit full as well. I went thru this process again, completing another benchmark run the next day and the same thing happened… no credit.
So I’m at a loss on how to get credit for workouts completed on a couch driven training plan. It should not be this difficult, especially for a Garmin product.

  • I think that you need to get an answer from someone that have used that watch with the coach program. ) maybe?

The first version of Instinct was a bit limited. The Instinct 2 got everything that was missing and that is a great watch.

Yes, I owned the Instinct 1st gen previously, and indeed used it for a Training Plan too. I had no issues. All you need to do is scheduling the workouts, and then starting a run on the scheduled day. The scheduled workout is automatically proposed and when you complete it, you move to the next step then next day. Not sure what is meant by the "credit" in the OP. I do not remember getting any credits for completing workouts of the training plan, but it is already a few years ago.

I'd suggest cancelling the plan, and starting from the scratch anew, making sure that the workouts are well scheduled, and that you always do them on the scheduled day.

You can also post a link to the concerned Activity, so that we can try looking at it and seeing whether there is something unusual in it.

  • Thanks,

By credit I am referring to the app recognizes I did the scheduled workout and it moves forward to the next scheduled event.
I will try resetting everything and starting a new plan. See where that goes.. may just lead me to a watch upgrade.
    Thanks for the ideas.

It is not a problem of the watch. As I wrote, I owned it too and had no problems with doing Training Plans at all. It could be perhaps a problem of a duplicate or a phantom account - that can easily create havoc in data, and it is the cause of many problems. I recommend removing the watch from Garmin Connect, and then adding it back. And also doing a soft-reset of the watch may be worth of it. Do it before you relaunch the Training Plan. See the instructions below for more detailed instructions:

Also remove all old workouts from the folder //GARMIN/Workouts and //GARMIN/Workouts/Scheduled/ before restarting the plan.
