Venu 2 Plus. Wrong calculation of steps while Golfing

While Golfing my new Venu 2 Plus watch calculates/detects too less steps. On a distance of 4.70km I have only 2510 steps. That makes a stride if almost 2 meters! I am a woman and have an actual stride of 0,64m

I set up a custom stride based on my fitbit which I have been using for over 8 years and is very accurate. The Venu 2 Plus ignored this setting and continues miscalculating my steps.

what else can I do? I y disappointed.

thank you for the help.

  • Garmin watches do not use the stride length while counting steps. They use watch movement.

Do you use a golf push cart? Do you push it with the arm that you got the watch on? That explains the low step count.

  • Hi! Thank you for your reply. Yes, I use a push trolley and use generally both hands. I find to count steps is nowadays a very basic activity. How can Garmin nit get this simple function right? I just switched from Fitbit which I have been using for the last 8 years, also on the course and had never any problems.

    what can I do?

  • Get a stand bag or don't use your watch arm to push your cart.

  • The advice can only come from a non golfer. Last night I had a lengthy chat with the Garmin support. The fact is that the Garmin uses a primitive technology to count steps that requires arm swinging. Arm movement and step cadence is unknown to Garmin. Thus, watches like Venu 2 Plus can only do one thing right: active as a GPS golf watch or step counter.

I got this watch as a recommendation from Garmin customer service, they said i would fulfill my wish of an activity tracker and golf watch. The truth is different, though.

I will give this watch back and get me a new Fitbit for regular activity tracking and for golfing I will see what fits me better. I bushnell might be the right fit for me.

  • I will give this watch back and get me a new Fitbit for regular activity trackin

Give it a try, but you'll find the fitbit forums full of similar posts about not recording steps accurately while pushing a cart - Not Counting Steps - Fitbit Community

  • I only use a stand bag when playing golf so I all my steps are counted.

  • Another solution is to get an HRM Pro or Pro Plus chest strap and add it to Garmin Connect. It works as an activity tracker and will count your steps.
