Fenix 5x wont upload activity to Garmin Connect app (iOS)

The watch is synced to the app, but for some reason my activities (runs) wont upload to the app (manual upload via the garmin connect website still works). I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, removing and adding the watch in the app (several times), and made sure all app permissions are correct.

What does the syncing process look like when you tap the sync icon? Do you see the circle around the watch, which then turns green? Or does nothing happen?

Yep, circle turns green when syncing, then grey-ish when done. Green dot displaying.

So then it is synching but might not be going to the correct account. Make sure you're logged into the app with the same credentials you use on Garmin Connect Web. Hm, no go. Removed the watch from the Connect app, Express on desktop AND on Connect web, and then added it again on the connect app. Whats next?
