Wildly inaccurate ascent report, forerunner 45, after I did an update. Ideas?

I did a hike with only about 840 feet in ascent yesterday. My Garmin report listed it at 3,400 feet! The only different thing was that I got an update alert several hours before I hiked, and did the update. I’ve restarted both my watch and my Connect app. What’s up?

How does the elevation profile of the activity look like? Did you calibrate the altimeter after the update, or is the auto-calibration turned on?

Oh boy, I’ll be honest, I don’t know anything about calibrating the altimeter. I’ll look into it. Thank you.
