Strength Activity: Problem editing exercise details

Sometimes the Venu 2 does not correctly identify the exercise type, reps, or weight. And that's ok - some exercise movements are very similar or have no substantial wrist movement to allow for a confident detection.

Manually editing the exercises is a requirement if you want to record strength training.

But the edit function in Garmin Connect is very problematic. Changing a field seems to cause the value to jump up a row and cause an unintended overwrite of the existing entry. It seems to be impossible to fix the errors.

And lastly, why do users even bother to input exercise data? Is there a way to view progress on individual exercises or some aggregate indicator of strength? I keep expecting some functionality or data interpretation to appear. I can't even easily access the most recent iteration of an exercise to remember the weight I attempted.

I don't bother about logging any exercises. I always remove the one that is automatically added.

There is a report here that will show your exercises and stats for them: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/report/strength_training/strength_training/last_seven_days

  • I use an iPhone and have not really had any problems entering my weight data. In fact editing is a welcome break after the workout. However, I do find it frustrating to enter the same exercise for each set. What? Instead of "recent" I would rather have "last". Unless you are doing 1 set per weight it is a bit tedious to select the same exercise again and again. But frankly not as hard as the actual exercise :-)

Wrt the data, I can see all training sessions I have ever had in "Activity". I can go back to any point and look at the details. I have the fenix 6.

  • Has anyone else found in the last 4 weeks whenever you try and edit weight or reps for strength training Garmin connect stalls in the running man load icon and then crashes, but when you reopen the app the sits appear correctly?

  • Yes. Same here. There is a separate thread about it and it seems the issue was reported to Garmin support for investigation.

  • I am founding a recent problem regarding the register of strength activity. Before the last update when I fill the Weight field with some value, the APP was able to automatically correct the Name of the exercise. That is, if I hadn’t selected the weighted option of the exercise but this field was fulfilled, the App immediately correct this. Is this some bug? Because in mt opinion is a downgrade of what garmin already had.
