I thought I was working well with the training status on my Instinct 2 until recently. First my nightly resting heart rate began to drop a couple of beats to 45. That makes sense with an increased cardio, cycling and swimming routine. My HRV began to increase slowly from my normal 32 over a couple weeks to 35 then 36 and unbalanced, however a increasing HRV is generally considered a good thing as fitness improves. I do follow the recovery suggestions from Garmin.
Now for my real question, I had been able to maintain a balanced training status for months, until a few weeks ago. I have been struggling with both anaerobic and high aerobic balance, so I decided to experiment this morning. I started out in my optimal range with load focus numbers of anaerobic 128, high aerobic 288 and low aerobic 517. I ran for 12 minutes in my orange threshold zone which says a rate between 138-155 at average rate of 145 bpm. Reviewing the results afterward, my optimal zone began a steep decline from a steadily increasing band. I am now overreaching and my load focus numbers tanked with anaerobic dropped from 128 to 62, high aerobic 288 to 153 while low aerobic remained 517. Is the dropping numbers and overreaching status related to the unbalanced HRV? Is only zone 5 training considered high aerobic? Please help me how to get back into balance.
