Audio Prompts volume reset to zero every time app is re-opened

Sometime in the last 6 months, the Connect app's audio prompts during a working stopped working. What I discovered was that they were in fact "working" but the prompt volume - independent of the phone's volume - was set to zero, and not by any action of mine. I am able to reset it to an acceptable level, but it only lasts until I close the app. When I re-open it, the volume is once again at zero.

My device is a Forerunner 935
I am currently on Connect for IOS version 4.64.1.2
